Yes. this weekend was the Berlin one. Would rather post up some piccies, but in the meantime.
Friday, got there in time for dinner, got back to the hotel, changed and then went out to this place that Mads had recommended (called DUDU). Lovely korean meal, and then we headed to this kater holzig place. Of course we got there waaaay too early, so we walked back to the dodgiest german bar, where he told me more about how it was with his ex - don't know how/why but he seemed to need to talk about it. Also found out Cate was originally a twin, which shocked me a little.
Then back to the place, which was like a mini- burning man in Berlin, complete with a small smoke room playing cheese-tastic music. It was quite funny. Danced and drank, and wandered, and chatted. And then got a picture done in the photo booth at the end, was really cool.
Got back to our hotel room about 5am, and was bloody knacked!
In the morning J went out forage me some breaky, very sweetly as I was feeling really hungover :P I could just about manage to get out of bed after coffee and a sandwich, and although we were defo tempted not to leave our lovely bed, we did some sights (Jewish war memorial, brandenburg gate, reichstag, a cool german cafe for hot chocolate, and then the germainesquare christmas marktet. Very nice and chrismassy in a cheesy way.
Then back to our hotel, we chilled for a good couple of hours before heading out to the solar bar, it was nice to have that booked so late. This was a cool sky lounge bar looking over Berlin, a little like the one in Stockholm. Dinner (and violet cocktail), amazing. Then headed upstairs to the bar/with dj, very cool - and after an hour or so, Matteo joined us there. Pretty nice to see him, he looks well if his usual self. Not quite as busy as his usual self though;) maybe not quite.
We headed home at around 2am, wanted to try and make Berghain on sunday - in the end neither of us slept well and we fancied wandering and a leisurely brunch instead - OLD I know. We did that. walked back into town, froze on the way, and then caught the metro back to our hotel.
The (6 hour) train journey, with 3 changes and an accident on the line, was NOT fun!!! But it was a little more fun because Jeff was there. I tried and failed to sleep most the way. But still it was nice to snuggle up to someone, even traveling is made better that way.
this is the view from my window this week (nothing to do with Berlin)
and the gorgeous sinterklaas flowers Jeff sent me, seriously a huge bunch like I've never had before, and he intended to (and did) totally surprise me.
