Just said goodbye to Anna and Kate who were the last men standing on our epic 'girls queens day' group - everyone cancelled left right and centre but they did not and still came with orange bells on.
So nice to see them, as ever.
My QD was soberest ever as was on a pitch last week (craziness and one I had two thoughts of doing as timings were so bad), but it went well and was a bit of money. We got on really well with the agency as well so that's a good relationship to have.
Anna and Kate arriving sunday morning. We went for Bakkerswinkel brunch and a wander and they met Cate and Jeff in the evening, we went and grabbed some food at the tapas bar near me (oliver), which is surprisingly good actually...didn't ever go in there as didn't think it would be all that good.
Monday we went for a wander to the EyeFilm as anna wanted to see it. We ended up on the sky lounge terrace in the sun drinking martini's and wine, as it was perfect on the day. Jeff and his sister, and friend, came to sit with us there. Also Jen who stayed with us for the evening (haven't hung with her properly in ages so that was cool!) Was really nice just to sit and relax and drink after the heavy work week. After Pizzas were bought on the way for a little soiree for everyone at mine, we all prepared ourselves for Queensnight and headed out into the thick of it - because of pitch I adjusted my time out a little to be that night. We drank a lot and had a massive wander around, still standby my thought that Queensday is better, far better, it was crowded and you couldn't get near the sound stages. There were some funny moments though (pushing through crowds, a house party, and having a bit of a 'trance it up' session outside someone's house on a canal garage, hugest speakers ever and amazing music, haha.
Next morning we got up late, of course, and with three girls getting ready we didn't make it to harri's brunch until around 1.30pm. We wandered up slowly, amstel way, so that the ladies could see some of the day. It was cold but sunny, and it was really quiet - people were inside watching the inauguration of the king and then came out afterwards perhaps?
We then went from Harris through the nine streets and jordaan to 'Frederik Henriekadeplantsoen', a really good little pop up sound stage. By this time (because of numerous stops for toilet and other stages on the way, it was already around 7pm...stayed for an hour and then headed home with Jeff to get some quiet time before crashing ready for the big day) was in bed, asleep by around 11pm. Woke up at 2, felt like had had a good night's sleep already, everything had been aching, and then again when the girls came back apparently around 3. They had a great old time, taken under the wing of some of my more partygoer friends lol.
This morning was up at 7.45 to be at the agency by 8.45, and did the pitch all on a bit of a high. So tired that I barely even got nervous, as I usually do, plus I just started talking and it all flowed out. Nice when that happens. As marls and I did everything from ideas, to executions, to putting it all into a pres, to guiding the mood video, I guess it was quite natural.
Met the girls for lunch with Erin in Oude West, quick few shandies before they had to come back to catch their flight.
Now, back onto W which am really gonna enjoy. As M said, it's nice to have a break and come back into it, woooot. Feel like have some perspective and motivation again.
