We've had lots of snow in Amsterdam, it's very white and christmas-like outside, it's lovely.
Mum has been here since thursday evening, been lovely to see her, although the Christmas Market was a bit of a failure - didn't book the Cologne one soon enough, then today we traipsed up through the snow to Westergasfabriek to find that that one also wasn't open because of the snow or because it wasn't on this weekend who knows!! We still had a great time wandering around in the snow, faked feeding the birds around the lake, walked back stopping at the cafe opposite Martins place, good coffee and cozy, not so great food wise.
Then we walked to town to buy some Amsterdam bits for the brothers, and some better boots for me as I had to chuck the others one out, totally hammered and leaking now.
Finally cooked some cajun chips and had the rest of the roast veg and chicken leftovers, yummy! Kat joined us for dinner which was nice.
It's been a bit of a quieter weekend than usual when mum is here. Yesterday we went to the Jordaan, to the Nordemarkt and around Westerstraat. Then we went to town to see about boots for me, but didn't see any I liked really. Then walked back, had a bit of a relax before heading over to Mappa for a lovely meal, and Wynn joined us. Then to bubbles and wine for a glass of bubbly before being back here and relaxing and watching TV around 12. It's been a bit of a weekend for that, been nice relaxing, sleeping.
Mum has talked a lot about her childhood. I wish I wrote down more before I forgot it. She talked about her mum and how she used to match up her with men, make her go out to dinner with them and things by inviting them around. Like the guy the scooter who took her to hyde park for the start of a brighton race. Then the older guy who lived down the road and got her in his home and tried to force himself on her (but she got away and never told her mother). Then dinner last night she talked about going out in tiny mini-skirts or pencil skirts, no tights, pointy shoes and big heels, and walk to the station at night.
The embarrassing things her mum did - like hoik her off the step out the front of her place in a see through nightie and curlers, because mum was out there over her curfew.
She talked about getting revenge for my dad once going out and talking to this one woman all night that fancied him, when he was supposed to be at a party with her...she didn't tell him off. She instead went out and bought a lace see-through dress and a body stocking. Put both on and went out to dinner with my dad first, when she pretended she was cold. Then, when they got to the party, off came the coat and apparently she didn't dance one dance with my dad all night. She got whisked around all night by other men, and my dad at the end (I'm sure when they were kissing or whatever) just said 'you bitch'.
Go mum!!
